Matlack Records Shutout Against Yankees

Thursday, April 28th, 1983: Jon Matlack effectively shut down the Yankees today, blanking them 5-0 on 2 hits, ringing up 5 strikeouts and allowing 2 walks. The Indians pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on.

Saturday, April 30th, 1983: After the Pittsburgh 13-11 victory over San Diego and his 5-hit day second baseman Hal Mcrae told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
