The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Todd Schneider of Los Angeles (N) last week. The right fielder had a 7-game stretch to remember and today he was named the National League Player of the Week.
Schneider delivered 16 hits in 32 at-bats to hit .500 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs.
In 2014 Schneider is hitting .369, batted in 26 runs with 8 home runs and 22 runs scored. |

The votes have been cast and counted and the winner of the American League Player of the Week has been chosen. It was presented earlier today to Kevin Frandsen for his red-hot week of hitting.
The Tampa Bay second baseman took home the trophy by splurging with 14 hits in 25 at-bats for a .560 batting average, driving in 4 runs and scoring 3 times.
Frandsen is currently batting .417 with no home runs and 7 RBIs. |

Ricky Romero was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He blanked the New York (A) Yankees 5-0 on 4 hits and had 2 walks and 9 strikeouts.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," the New York (A) skipper told reporters after the shutout loss to the Boston Red Sox.
"He just had a real deceiving fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
This season Romero has worked 60.2 innings with 74 strikeouts en route to a 7-0 record and a 0.45 ERA. |
