Monday, September 22nd, 2014: AL Names Rangers Left Fielder Winner
Not every ball that came off Corky Brinkel's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Texas Rangers. For his exploits, Brinkel was named this week's American League Player of the Week award.

The Texas left fielder put up 12 hits in 25 at-bats and 2 home runs while hitting .480 with 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

This season Brinkel has hit at a .261 clip with 125 RBIs, 31 home runs and 99 runs scored. He has played in 149 games.
Sunday, September 21st, 2014: Rodriguez 5-7 for Los Angeles (A)
Sean Rodriguez exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The Los Angeles (A) third baseman had a field day in the 22-3 triumph over the Texas Rangers, finishing up with a 5-7 day and a spot in the league record book.

"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."

Well, Rodriguez must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.

S. Rodriguez doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off F. Candleman in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.

Thus far in 2014 Rodriguez has hit .309 with 8 home runs, 61 RBIs and scored 86 runs.
Sunday, September 21st, 2014: Great Stroke! Crosta Gets 5 Hits!
Nicholas Crosta really sizzled at the plate in today's 22-3 win over Rangers. The Los Angeles (A) left fielder blistered Texas for 5 hits in 6 at-bats.

"Crosta was too tough to get out today," the Rangers skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."

N. Crosta flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off B. Bray in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off S. Quiroz in the 9th.

Presently Crosta is batting .299 with 25 home runs and 98 RBIs. He has played in 133 games and scored 99 times.
