| Breaking News | | Thursday, October 16th, 2014: | | Monday, August 18th, 2014: Vince Faison Out for 7 Months After the end of today's game between New York (A) and Seattle, Vince Faison skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after running the bases, the Yankees had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The left fielder will miss at least 7 months with a torn abdominal muscle.
Thus far this season in 116 games Faison is batting .241 with 14 home runs, 61 RBIs and 86 runs scored. He has 103 hits in 428 at-bats. | | Monday, August 4th, 2014: Great Day for Kendrick! 5 Hits! After the New York (A) 9-4 loss to Kansas City and his 5-hit day second baseman Howie Kendrick told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame."
The 31-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 5 for 7 game against the Kansas City Royals.
The skipper of the Yankees spoke glowingly of Kendrick, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Howie did that to perfection today. I just wish some more our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game."
H. Kendrick walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, doubled in the 11th, singled in the 14th and singled in the 16th.
This year Kendrick is batting .322 with 140 hits and 18 home runs. He has scored 67 times and has batted in 86 runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | LF Vince Faison | torn abdominal muscle | 5 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | LF Patrick Breen | fractured cheekbone | 7-8 weeks | 23 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 84-78, .519 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 30.0 GB | | Record at home | 39-42, .481 PCT | | Record on the road | 45-36, .556 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 13-13, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 21-23, .477 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 33-29, .532 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 51-49, .510 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in March | 1-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in April | 16-11, .593 PCT | | Record in May | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in June | 13-13, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 8-17, .320 PCT | | Record in August | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in September | 15-11, .577 PCT |
