| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, September 17th, 2014: Tampa Bay Inks LF Leitez to $56,450,000 Extension
The Devil Rays must be relieved this evening as word that D'Angelo Leitez has decided to stay put became reality. The 26-year-old will call Tampa Bay home for at least another 5 years.
Posting a .294 batting average to date, Leitez has 21 home runs and 90 RBIs.

Johan Santana was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He blanked the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 8-0 on 4 hits and had no walks and 6 strikeouts.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," the Tampa Bay skipper told reporters after the shutout loss to the Chicago (A) White Sox.
"He just had a real deceiving fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
Year to date Santana shows a 16-10 record, 30 starts, 231.1 innings, 255 strikeouts and a 4.12 ERA.
