| Breaking News |  | Sunday, September 28th, 2014: Sanchez Tosses Shutout Humberto Sanchez of the Detroit Tigers gave the Royals a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete game shutout. He blanked them 5-0 on 2 hits with a total of 12 strikeouts and 2 walks.
The Detroit manager said, "Sanchez was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
On his 2014 stats sheet Sanchez shows a 14-13 record, 32 starts, 220.1 innings, 214 strikeouts and a 4.98 ERA. |  | Sunday, August 31st, 2014: Romero Sizzles, Detroit Fizzles Ricky Romero had the Detroit Tigers dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 13-0 shutout performance for the Boston Red Sox. He gave up 4 hits and collected no walks and 15 strikeouts.
Detroit hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.
The opposing manager said, "When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point. We just never figured him out."
In the 2014 season Romero has recorded a 29-2 mark. The Detroit starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 5-0 record.
In July Miner chalked up a 2.19 ERA in 37 innings with 34 strikeouts and 13 walks.
